At Nakdong Estuary Flyway Network Site (EAAF097) in Ro Korea, the Nakdong Estuary Eco Center of Busan City Nakdong River Management Executive Office, and Kyungsung University Bird Hall has been jointly holding the “Special Exhibition of Shorebirds of Nakdong Estuary” between 26th November 2021 and 27th February 2022. The exhibition’s theme is “Conservation of Environment for Birds and Nakdong Estuary”.

In the exhibition, 35 bird specimens from the collection of Kyungsung University (which has been actively working to protect wild animals since 1987) were displayed, including Black-winged Stilt, Terek Sandpiper, and Common Redshank, which visit the Nakdong Estuary during their migration. In particular, the exhibition included the specimen of Red Phalarope (also known as Grey Phalarope), which is the only one in Ro Korea. This is an excellent opportunity to see this species rarely found in Korea.

In addition, to raise awareness on the negative impact of human disturbance on migratory waterbirds, the exhibition shows a video of a flock of Red-necked Phalaropes in the baseball stadium of Busan Sajik Stadium at night to the general public. Moreover, the animation “Birds Connect Our World” produced by the EAAFP Secretariat for the 2020 World Migratory Bird Day, telling a story of the migration of a Red Knot and the challenges it faces, was screened to inform citizens about the importance of conserving migratory waterbird habitats. At the exhibition hall, visitors can participate in “Coloring Shorebirds”. There is an area where visitors can exhibit their paintings of shorebirds.

The Nakdong Estuary Eco Center has been doing its best to inform citizens of the importance of the Nakdong Estuary and the necessity of environmental conservation.

◈ 경성대학교 소장 희귀 도요・물떼새 조류표본 35점 전시… 국내 유일 표본 ‘붉은배지느러미발도요’와 다양한 콘텐츠 선보여
부산시 낙동강관리본부 낙동강하구에코센터와 경성대학교 조류관은 오는 2021년 11월 26일부터 2022년 2월 27일까지 한국의 낙동강 하구 철새이동경로 네트워크 서식지(EAAFP097)에 위치한 낙동강 하구 에코 센터 1층 기획전시실에서 「낙동강하구 도요・물떼새 특별전」을 개최한다.
이번 특별전은 지난 1987년부터 야생동물 보호를 위해 꾸준히 활동하고 있는 경성대학교 조류관과 공동으로 주최하며, 낙동강하구의 새와 환경보전이라는 두 기관의 관심사로 이루어졌다.
전시에는 시베리아와 호주를 이동하며 낙동강하구를 찾는 장다리물떼새, 뒷부리도요, 붉은발도요 등 경성대학교가 소장하고 있는 35점의 조류표본이 전시된다. 특히, 국내에 단 한 점만 존재하는 ‘붉은배지느러미발도요’도 전시되어, 우리나라에서 관찰하기 어려운 종을 만나볼 좋은 기회가 될 것이다.
또한, 인간의 간섭이 동물에게 미치는 영향을 알리기 위해 부산 사직구장의 야간 야구 경기장에 난입한 지느러미발도요가 떼를 지어 비행하는 동영상을 방영한다. 또한, EAAFP 사무국에서 제작한 “세계를 이어주는 철새들” 애니메이션 영상도 함께 방영해 붉은가슴도요의 이동과 어려움을 보여주며 이동성 물새 보전의 중요성을 시민들에게 함께 알리고 있다 (“세계를 이어주는 철새들” 보기).
특별전 관람자들이 “도요‧물떼새 색칠하기” 체험에 완성한 그림을 전시하는 참여 코너도 마련되어 새에 대한 아이들의 개성을 볼 수 있는 좋은 기회가 될 것이다.
낙동강하구에코센터는 낙동강하구의 중요성과 환경보전의 필요성을 시민들에게 알릴 수 있도록 최선을 다하고 있다.
