Scaly-sided Merganser Task Force workshop on the 2nd workshop will be held on 23-25 September 2015 in Vladivostok, Russia.

(1) sign off the Single Species International Action Plan;
(2) provide direction for national Action Plans;
(3) coordinate surveys within key states; and
(4) provide direction to conservation breeding and research in captivity.

A field trip on 26-28 September 2015 to Kievka R, key study site of the Scaly-sided Merganser project, following the workshop will aim to (1) open the Visitor Centre of the Scaly-sided Merganser Field Station in Kishinevka village; and (2) train refuge staff in erecting artificial nests.

Aims: (1) establish working of the Scaly-sided Merganser Task Force; (2) evaluate changes to threats and agree priorities for action; (3) provide direction for National Action Plans; (4) coordinate surveys in key states; and (5) provide direction to conservation breeding and research in captivity; followed by a field trip to (6) open the Visitor Centre at the Scaly-sided Merganser Field Station; and (7) provide training and information exchange among conservation fieldworkers

Preliminary Programme:

23rd arrive Vladivostok 24th County updates, review of threats, priority actions 25th National Action Plans, monitoring, Task Force working arrangements 26th Kievka field excursion 27th Kievka field excursion 28th travel to Vladivostok It is hoped to hold a one-day workshop on Baer’s Pochard on 23rd, subject to funding

Visa information:

All participants need a valid passport for foreign travel.

There are three categories of countries with different visa requirements to enter the Russian Federation:

1. No visa required: Republic of Korea, DPR Korea, Hong Kong (for visits up to 14 days)
2. Visa invitation issued by IBPN FEB RAS for the visa type ‘scientific-technical communications’: People’s Republic of China, Republic of China, USA, all EU countries
3. Visa invitation issued by Russian Federal Migration Service: Australia, UK, Japan. Thirty days are required by Migration Service for visa invitation.

Participants from countries in category 3 above are requested to submit the following information as soon as possible:

  • A copy of all pages of their passport (including blank pages)
  • Affiliation, office address, phone, fax
  • Home address, phone, fax
  • Date and place of birth
  • Visa type (multi-entry, single-entry)
  • Cities to visit in Russia (if any other other than Vladivostok)
  • Previous Russian visas

Participants from countries in category 2 above are requested to submit the following information before 20th of May 2015:

  • A copy of first page of their passport
  • Affiliation
  • Home address, phone
  • Date and place (city, state, country) of birth
  • Visa type (multi-entry, single-entry)
  • Your names in previous Russian visas (in Russian)
