  • Habitats: They breed in gravel, shingle, or stony areas at the edges of rivers and lakes. During the non-breeding season, they frequent shingle banks of large rivers and muddy areas, such as cut rice stubble fields and mudflats, but are also observed on beaches and at sewage ponds.
