What is World Wetlands Day?

ramsarengsmlLaunched in 1997, World Wetlands Day marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands in Ramsar, Iran, on 2 February 1971. Each year on 2 February, government agencies, non-government organisations and community groups have celebrated World Wetlands Day to raise public awareness of the importance and value wetlands hold and to promote the conservation and wise use of wetlands. Let us mark and celebrate the World Wetlands Day and raise awareness of wetlands, habitat for migratory waterbirds!
