Event title:

Organizer:
Fujian Minjiang River Estuary Wetland National Nature Reserve and WWF-Hong Kong
Summary:
To celebrate World Migratory Bird Day, Fujian Minjiang River Estuary Wetland National Nature Reserve and WWF-Hong Kong organized a launch ceremony of the education pack “Connect with the Green Minjiang” on 11th May 2017. The pack which consists of 6 chapters in 2 themes “Introduction of wetlands and waterbirds” and “Introduction of green daily life” aims at assisting local primary school teachers to teach during environmental protection lessons. All chapters were designed by a working group composed of teachers from 2 local primary schools and staff from Fujian Minjiang River Estuary Wetland National Nature Reserve with technical support provided by WWF-Hong Kong. To ensure the pack is easy to use, all chapters have been tested as a trial in the class. After distributing the pack to all primary schools in Changle City where the Reserve is situated at, teacher representatives from the schools were invited to observe a demonstration lesson so that they can know the most effective way to use the pack. Responses from the teachers were positive and through their future teaching, it is hoped that the young generation can understand why and how to treasure the wetlands nearby.
