Drafted by The Spoon-billed Sandpiper Task Force

The Spoon-billed Sandpiper Task Force of The East Asian-Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAFP) completed a two-days online meeting between 24 and 25 November 2021. This was the first formal meeting of the Task Force since December 2018. A total of 29 participants from Bangladesh, China, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Myanmar, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, UK, Vietnam and the EAAFP secretariat attended the meeting. Discussions included updates, successes and challenges on the key conservation issues related to Spoon-billed Sandpiper conservation along the EAAF. All participants emphasized the need to develop a new action plan to explore and address existing and new emerging challenges to halt the extinction of the charismatic species. An outline of a new Spoon-billed Sandpiper Action Plan was presented and discussed.
