Incheon-Gyeonggi Task Force Annual Workshop

On 10th January 2019, the Incheon-Gyeonggi Task Force of EAAFP organized its annual workshop in G-Tower boardroom, Songdo. A total of 58 participants including government representatives, local experts, NGOs and volunteer groups attended the meeting. Ten TF member organizations presented their work plans, addressed challenges, and shared various ideas toward the conservation of migratory birds and habitats in Incheon and Gyeonggi bay area, one of the most ecologically important areas in East Asian and Australasian Flyway. The second session of the workshop focused on the ‘Desirable partnership model between the corporates and environment NGOs’. Representatives from the Gyeongsangnamdo Ramsar Environmental Foundation, Korea Green Foundation, Beautiful Store and WWF Korea gave inspiring presentations and seated as panels during the discussion session. Some of the recommendations included capacity building of local NGOs in accounting and reporting, data sharing of monitoring activities, and encouraging the  collaboration with private companies that are based in Incheon-Gyeonggi region.

The Incheon-Gyeonggi TF is the first local-level Task Force set up under EAAFP, consisting of local NGOs, research institutes, network of teachers, and conservation experts as advisors. The workshop was sponsored by the Korea South-East Power Co.Ltd. Yeongheung Power Division and Incheon Metropolitan City.
