2020 International Symposium for Hwaseong Wetlands
“Getting the Benefits of Conservation: Hwaseong Wetlands”

Together with Hwaseong City, the EAAFP Secretariat will be co-hosting the 2020 International Symposium for Hwaseong Wetlands with the theme “Getting the Benefits of Conservation: Hwaseong Wetlands”. The Symposium will be a valuable opportunity to learn about the values and importance of Hwaseong Wetlands and hear the perspectives of wetland experts, government agencies, environmental organizations, and the local community. The symposium will also serve as a platform to discuss lessons from international case studies of wetland management to ensure Hwaseong Wetlands is managed sustainably.
During Session I of the symposium, national and international wetland experts will present on the benefits people can gain from the conservation of Hwaseong Wetlands. During session II, panelists will discuss the topics brought up during the symposium, and open participation to all viewers. The perspectives of the local and international community will be valuable in developing the Guidelines on the Management of Hwaseong Wetlands so we will encourage all viewers to participate in this session and share their thoughts.
The event is being co-organized by Birds Korea and Korean Federation for Environmental Movement (KFEM), and KFEM Hwaseong.

EAAFP 사무국과 화성시는 2020 화성습지 국제심포지엄 “화성습지, 뜨거운 지구에 쉼표를 더하다(Getting the Benefits of Conservation: Hwaseong Wetlands)”를 주최합니다. 이 심포지엄을 통해 세계가 주목하는 화성습지의 중요성을 널리 알리고 해외 우수사례를 수용하여 화성습지의 지속가능성을 격상하고자 합니다.
세션 1에서는 국내외 습지 전문가들이 화성습지 보전을 통해 시민들이 얻을 수 있는 혜택에 대해 발표할 예정이며, 세션2에서는 패널들이 제기된 주제들에 대해 토론할 예정입니다. ‘화성습지 관리 가이드라인’을 구성하는데 지역사회의 시각과 국제사회의 시각을 받아들이는 시간, 세션2에서는 토론을 통해 화성습지의 관리 지침의 바탕을 만들어가는 시간이 될 것입니다. 세션 중 유튜브 대화창을 통해 참여가 가능합니다.
