Farewell to Suyeon Kang, Administration/Finance Assistant

In the words of Suyeon Kang,

Looking back on what I have gone through in 2020, I can say, without hesitance, that it was a gift and a priceless time for me to ponder upon my career paths. As an incoming senior at Yonsei University majoring in International Studies, I always dreamed of working in an international organization and be a part in contributing to the common goals of the humanity. I was particularly intrigued to learn more about SDGs and how it is being conducted at both the international and local level, since I was at the same time considering pursuing master’s degree in Development Studies. My six months at EAAFP was definitely a time for me to raise my perspectives up to a higher level, to be granted a higher vintage point to view the world that a university student could not have gained by herself.

During my internship period at EAAFP, I could dive into vast arrays of tasks not only limited to administrative matters but also related to IT, secretary, and EAAFP Strategic Plan related programs. This was particularly encouraging for me, since I really enjoyed challenging myself with new areas, and it was always fun to teach myself on various agenda that I have not confronted before. As an administration and finance assistant and working with our officers, I could gain practical knowledge on how an international organization operates, how it connects to other national governments and NGOs, and how its finance is managed and spent. Having participated in several bilateral meetings with National Focal Point, I realized the strength of solidarity and community in achieving our common goals: the conservation of migratory waterbirds and their habitats. What was especially special about EAAFP was our colleagues who showed infinite love and support towards my work and life. Working with international professionals and sharing their passions and love for what they think is valuable was truly priceless. With love and support from EAAFP, I am excited to take the next step to fulfill my mission in life.
