POSITION VACANT  PROGRAMME OFFICER

The East Asian–Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAFP) is the major international framework established for the conservation of migratory waterbirds and their habitat in the flyway. The Flyway Partnership exists to enhance collaboration on the conservation of migratory waterbirds and their habitats as international cooperation is essential to protect migratory waterbirds throughout the Flyway.

The EAAFP is served by a Secretariat located in Incheon, Republic of Korea, established in 2009. The Secretariat is an international organization working closely with the Flyway Partners from governments, intergovernmental organizations and NGOs. Its business is conducted in the English language.

The Secretariat is seeking a Programme Officer to provide coordination and strategic planning and strengthen EAAFP programmes, liaison and capacity, working closely with Secretariat staff.

Duties and responsibilities of the Programme Officer are included in the attached Terms of Reference.

 

Duration of Contract:

The period of initial appointment will be for two years with the possibility of renewal on the annual evaluation of work performance and continuity of funding.

Starting Date: As soon as possible

Application Procedure:

The position is based in Incheon, Republic of Korea. Persons interested in applying for this position should submit a completed EAAFP Application Form and a Cover letter, no more than five pages in length. Taking into account the responsibilities and duties of the position as outlined above, you should respond in writing to the following selection criteria (maximum of 300 words for each criterion) in an attachment:

  1. Professional experience – Summarise your professional experience and practical knowledge in conservation, environmental planning and policy, institutional development and related fields
  2. Coordination of conservation initiatives, including communication and presentation skills and experience – Describe examples of coordination and management of conservation initiatives from your experience and indicate your successes
  3. Working with a diverse range of partners, including government agencies, international and national NGOs and scientists – Give examples of your experience, role and success working with different partners, organizations and individuals to achieve conservation outcomes.
  4. Ability to work independently and in a team to achieve results – Explain your experience and roles both when working in a multi-cultural, professional team and independently
  5. Knowledge and experience in working in the region – Describe your firsthand knowledge of working in the East Asian- Australasian region, notably in Korea and preferably on planning and programmatic issues
