News from the 9th Australasian Shorebird Conference

Following the Management Committee meeting of the Australian Wader Study Group on September 19, the Australian Australasian Shorebird Conference kicked off with the attendance of over 60 shorebird researchers mostly from Australian and New Zealand with some invited guests from China, South Korea and Thailand. Dr. Judit Szabo, EAAFP Science Officer gave a plenary talk about good news stories from the flyway. The conference was followed by a week of cannon netting to flag shorebirds in the Darwin region, a project run by Ms. Amanda Lilleyman, Charles Darwin University.
